Introduction

Renewable Energy for Clean Environment and Development (RECED) is a non governmental, non profit, non political, social organization registered in the Chief District Office (CDO) of the Nepalese Government with the registration number 614/ 2063/2064 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC) .

The organisation has been established by an experienced social workers group with the objective of addressing rising global pollution and simultaneously improving the livelihood of rural communities by combining income generation programs and small-scale volunteer projects with the deployment of renewable energy technologies.

RECED provides long and short term volunteering opportunities which directly assist Nepalese communities to become economically and environmentally more sustainable

Objectives:

  • Volunteering with RECED also gives real experience of rural Nepali life, the chance to trek through remote landscapes and villages, enjoy indigenous cultures and customs, travel through mountainous regions and see the top of the world - Mount Everest.
  • To mitigate environmental pollution globally and to improve rural livelihoods by combining income generation and other short term volunteering programs with the use of renewable energy technologies.
  • To design and implement development programs amongst rural communities by mobilizing local resources in order to improve the economic conditions of rural people.
  • To reduce the worsening conditions of Katmandu's holy rivers.
  • To run long term and short term volunteer programs in rural communities in order to assist those communities according to the capabilities and wishes of the individual.
  • To provide eco-trekking and cultural experience of indigenous communities while volunteering. To give an opportunity for the volunteers or students for research and assessment program in accordance with the organisation's norms and values.
  • To disseminate the information about the environment, health, water and sanitation and other awareness programs through documentary, posters, pamphlets and drama.
  • To work with national and, international organisations, Government, and with individual volunteer/people while fulfilling the goals and objectives of the organisation.
